About Indiana Hospitality & Tourism Foundation

The Indiana Hospitality & Tourism Foundation (IHTF) was founded in 1998 by the Restaurant & Hospitality Association of Indiana, the Indiana Hotel & Lodging Association and the Hospitality Business Alliance. The Foundation is a 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit organization that is funded by donations, grants and fundraising events. Our mission is to prepare high school students for top-wage, high-skill careers in the hospitality industry through the development of a network of local hospitality programs in the state's high schools. IHTF provides training and professional development for teachers and interfaces with Indiana Department of Education to achieve program goals. The Director of the Foundation is also responsible for working with interested schools to establish the programs, garner industry and community support, and assure the high quality of the program offered. IHTF also offers mentor training, promotional assistance to the schools, and statewide recognition for the program.

New Ohh! Program To Raise Funds for Foundation

With foodservice and hotel training programs in more than 30 high schools throughout Indiana, the IHTF administers nationally developed training programs to more than 650 Hoosier students who learn the industry from classroom studies and mentored on-the-job internships.

IHTF has functioned for several years through grants as well as contributions from individuals and companies. However, at this point, with grant money running out, the organization must find a permanent funding source in order to survive.

Introducing the Ohh! Program... Opportunities in Hoosier Hospitality is a new initiative to increase awareness about the IHTF's school-to-career programs, to demonstrate the importance of the industry in the economy, and to raise needed funds from voluntary contributions to secure the programs’ future. Ohh! will launch in August as part of “Hospitality Education Month.” During the month, restaurants and hotels throughout Indiana will participate in the fundraiser by collecting small contributions from their customers. Restaurants will add a dime to every customer check and hotels will collect $1 per overnight stay. Click here to learn more about the program's details.
